How to Get Back on Track Today

I was hiking in the Sonoran Desert — a place I wasn’t familiar with — on a marked trail.

Except that I couldn’t see the trail. While clearly visible at the start, it had become invisible now. I couldn’t see the difference between the physical patterns that told my brain “trail” vs. untouched desert.

So, I slowed down and nearly stopped. I took a few deep breaths. I started to really take in my surroundings. I noticed things I had missed.

Then I saw it– the trail!!!

This happened a few more times on my solo hike. At times, I couldn’t see the patterns for a while, but eventually I did.
