How to Be a Better Lover

How to Be a Better Lover

No, I’m talking about how to be a better lover to yourself.  And it all begins with how you speak to yourself, silently, 24/7.

The other day I was practicing at a local studio and the teacher repeatedly asked us to look at ourselves in the mirror.  I did as instructed.  It took me about 15 minutes to realize the horrible barrage of inner insults I was giving myself—comparing myself to everyone in the room in every worst way you can think of!

I’m embarrassed and humbled to admit this because I’ve been working on shifting this habit now for more than 27 years.  But old habits die hard I guess.

self_acceptance_womanThank God I realized what I was doing.  I immediately changed the channel as Agapi Stassinapolous, author of Unbinding the Heart, says.

By the time I got to savasana, I was so grateful, I had tears in my eyes.  I naturally placed a hand on my heart and on my belly as I relaxed into total presence and bliss. I breathed a deep sigh of relief.  Home at last!

From a yoga perspective, changing the channel is the first step in changing your life.  Learn more when you enroll in The Yoga Experience: Unveiling Your True Potential or by attending our Yoga Philosophy Lecture Series.

To be beautiful means to be yourself.
You don’t need to be accepted by others.
You need to accept yourself.
